Senior Specialist - Network Engagement (Advancing Black Homeownership)
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a passionate, purpose driven, systems thinker with a deep understanding of racial inequity, housing justice, and engagement strategies to fill the role of Senior Specialist - Network Engagement - Advancing Black Homeownership (ABH) within the organization's Housing and Community Strategy (HCS) team. The HCS team works with Habitat for Humanity local offices across the United States primarily through thought partnership, capacity building and investments in strategic programs. The team's efforts are grounded in social justice principles and focused on equitable outcomes. The HCS team focuses on identifying, investing in and scaling innovative approaches to affordable housing, economic mobility and neighborhood development.

At Habitat, we know that a system of intentional and systemic racial discrimination has prevented many Black households from owning homes, and the Black homeownership rate in the U.S. is now the lowest of any racial or ethnic group. With the development of the Advancing Black Homeownership initiative, Habitat seeks to ensure Black households have equitable access to successful homeownership. As the racial homeownership gap has grown, we have responded with a stronger voice through advocacy, programmatic strategy and partnerships.

This specialist is an agile collaborator and practitioner with experience engaging diverse groups in program design, planning and implementation and the ability to manage peer to peer learning, communities of practice and produce guidance and trainings.

This individual will also develop and implement a digital engagement strategy which includes helping to write and publish stories, along with strategic thinking and research products that help affiliates amplify and improve their efforts to close the racial homeownership gap.

This position will be remotely based within the US.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support HUD funded capacity building cohort/s each with a minimum of 14 affiliates, with meeting facilitation, technical assistance, and best practices (50%).
- Develop strategies to capture input from the network regarding HCS equity focused programs with team members and partners across HFHI and the US HFH affiliate network (20%).
- Develop and facilitate HFH affiliate advisory groups who will codesign strategies to address barriers to housing for disinvested communities (10%).
- Identify and deploy affiliate-facing training, best practice sharing and peer-to-peer learning pertaining to US focused equity efforts (10%).
- Develop tools and resources in collaboration with HFHI affiliate learning and communications teams to equip the US Habitat affiliate network on equity focused initiatives (5%).
- Develop and maintain partnerships with affiliate leaders within the organizational network (5%).

Key Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 3 years of experience around program and project management -preferably centered around meeting the equitable needs of people of color and/or diverse groups.
- Knowledge of and commitment to social justice, racial justice and other forms of equity and systems level transformation.
- Deep understanding of the racial inequities faced by BIPOC communities, and particularly by foundational Black Americans.
- Strong program and project management skills including the ability to monitor and produce on time deliverables for multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects.
- Group facilitation skills and ability to lead presentations virtually and in person.

Preferred:

- 1-3 years of nonprofit program management work experience.
- 1-3 years experience with program/s focused on meeting the needs of people of color and diverse groups.
- Experience working with a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Experience with Habitat for Humanity or other federated or nonprofit background.
- Ability to conduct topical research and produce quality written and visually appealing documents.
- Affordable housing background.
- Experience in knowledge management, peer to peer sharing and communities of practice.
- Knowledge of emerging digital engagement strategies.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS software, internet & basic office equipment.

For work locations in the US, the salary range for this position is between $59,000 - $88,000 per year. The target hiring range for this position is $63,000 -$70,000 per year.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.
