This position is eligible for Eskaton's health benefits package the first of the month following 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits program after 90 days of employment.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, well maintained and comfortable environment for the residents and staff throughout the entire campus. The Director Environmental Services will hold primary responsibility for campus patrol, housekeeping, landscaping, laundry, and maintenance. This position is responsible for planning and directing all activities of the department including procedure development, budget planning and control, customer service excellence, and staff training and development.

The starting salary for this position ranges from $82,000 to $112,087 annually. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Hires, orientates, trains, coaches, counsels, promotes, evaluates, and provides general employment decisions for the department. Termination decisions will be made in coordination with Human Resources and the Executive Director.
  • Is responsible for the general supervision and organizational structure within the department. Delegates and follows up in an appropriate manner to ensure quality, equity and consistency within the department.
  • Is accountable for maintaining the department's budget and is fiscally responsible in accordance with those budgets and policies.
  • Purchases, monitors, and controls necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures an efficient plant operation in cooperation with other departments.
  • Maintains physical property in an "inspection ready" state and ensures infrastructure compliance with Eskaton standards as well as Fire Safety, Life Safety Code regulatory requirements for all applicable community licenses.
  • Organizes and delegates special projects. Identifies and plans for preventative and corrective maintenance projects and repairs for entire physical plant.
  • Reviews all projects within the facility and makes recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Inspects landscaping, gardening, grounds maintenance, sprinkler systems, drainage, etc. to ensure that all areas present are clean, healthy, and attractive in appearance.
  • Conducts continuing inspections to determine current facility conditions with regards to maintenance, grounds, security, and housekeeping.
  • Reviews mandatory security reports and investigates problem areas.
  • Responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field strongly desired; will consider equivalent job experience in lieu of degree.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification highly desirable.
  • Professional engineering license or certification is desirable.

Training and Experience:

  • Requires minimum 5 years experience in environmental services management;
  • Management experience in a CCRC, hospital, school system, hotel or other large campus environment is highly desirable;
  • Experience with all disciplines such as plumbing, electrical, general building construction, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, painting, carpentry, heating and refrigeration systems, ground maintenance, masonry and general maintenance;
  • Experience in physical plant project maintenance as well as implementing a comprehensive preventative maintenance program is vital;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Fire Safety and Life Safety code compliance is required.

The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, COVID test, TB screen test and health screen.
