YOU

As the Field Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing our strategies for the Northwest Field Engineering group. This will include managing and developing our commercial-focused Field Engineers and representing our branch in company and industry events.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Mentor and develop the Field Engineers. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: interviewing, hiring, training, and establishing expectations and goals; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance by observing, monitoring Field Engineer performance and progress; coaching, engaging, empowering, retaining, rewarding, and disciplining employees according to their unique interests, strengths, goals, and actions; cultivating a spirit of teamwork between Field Engineers and Branch Engineers, Sales Department, and other branches; planning and execution of engineering meetings; achieving department goals, growing specifications, and increasing product sales. While performing the supervisory responsibilities, the employee must represent the company in the utmost professional manner and in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws; especially when addressing complaints, resolving problems, and all other supervisory responsibilities. (50%)

Perform and review metric analysis at branch levels to identify trends and needs, gauge performance, and recognize potential opportunities as well as create and implement plans to best achieve the desired results. Keep up to date with industry trends and opportunities. Collaborate with other Field Engineering Managers to develop consistent programs and processes, and continuously review to improve them. Implement and improve strategies to maximize our interactions and relationships with structural engineers and product-usage decision makers. (20%)

Develop and maintain positive relationships with engineering, sales, and department leaders at the Northwest branch and other branches. Participate in industry associations and oversee branch participation to maximize our visibility and influence in the structural engineering community. (20%)

Other duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to the creation and coordination of projects and promotions with other departments and branches. Identify branch product needs and advocate for these with home office engineering, product management and Focus Market Committees. Develop new digital tools to improve efficiency for Field Engineers. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 3 years of experience as a Field Engineer Required.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (BSCE) from a four-year college or university Required.
  • 5 years of experience in consulting engineering; designing concrete, structural steel, cold-formed steel, wood and timber structures Preferred.
  • Practical working knowledge of common concrete, wood and steel construction methods.
  • Product knowledge: Detailed knowledge of Anchors, Strengthening Systems, CFS, and Lateral System product lines.
  • Mathematic Reasoning: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Speaking: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex scientific and technical journals, financial reports, legal documents, and construction plans.
  • Writing: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
  • Analysis/Reasoning: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to maintain an open, approachable manner, and treat others respectfully.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Ability to make or elicit specific suggestions for improvement in a manner that builds confidence and maintains self-esteem.
  • Leadership: Ability to see the potential in others and take opportunities to apply and develop that potential.
  • Technology: Proficient with standard business technology tools including, but not limited to, smartphones, computers, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), CAD, Bluebeam, structural design software (CFS Designer, Anchor Designer, etc.), and Salesforce CRM.
  • Organization & Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously as well as quickly reallocate resources in order to respond to changing customer and team member needs.
  • Staff Management: Ability to ensure staff have the skills and resources to get things done.
  • Driving Record: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel approximately 40-60% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in the Northwest US, working out of their home office.

RELOCATION

Relocation is available for this position.

PAY

$102300 - $138100 / Year
