Job Description

Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder Construction Service is seeking experienced Assistant Resident Engineers (AREs) to join our team! This position will support a variety of transportation and/or public works projects in Southern and Northern California.

Duties

    Assist Resident Engineer (RE) in managing and administering construction contracts
  • Support daily management of inspection personnel, quality assurance staff, and other construction management services
  • Review and prepare project reports
  • Review field inspection and testing reports
  • Assist and coordinate project meetings
  • Review Contractor's CPM schedule, monitor construction progress
  • Coordinate utility relocations with appropriate agencies
  • Support RE in communications with contractors and the owner
  • Support RE in interpreting plans and specifications
  • Provide support for redesign efforts and resolution of field issues
  • Perform calculations for working drawing reviews, roadway geometrics, and field engineering
  • Review and process Requests for Information and submittals
  • Perform quantity calculations for progress pay estimates
  • Support RE in approving progress pay estimates
  • Prepare contract change orders, cost estimates, and change order documentation
  • Maintain project records
  • Support project closeout process

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently, address contract management issues, solve field problems, make decisions effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of civil components, such as earthwork, drainage, roadway pavements, traffic control, water pollution control, signing and striping, and utilities
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Knowledge of Caltrans construction practices preferred
  • Ability to use an automatic level and transit for field surveying tasks
  • Professional approach at developing strong client relations

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $93,496-$161,990
