Machine Operator

Your role:

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the bulk cleaning line systems. This system contains equipment necessary for the polishing, cleaning and bulk packaging of various seeds and specialty grain. It will be your responsibility to process the raw products in order to meet quality specifications for customer orders. You must be able to troubleshoot the equipment and take corrective action needed to operate the system. You will be required to use a computer and must have working knowledge of basic Microsoft programs. You will be required to complete all documentation error free for customer orders and internal records. You will also be responsible for tasks associated with the sanitation of these systems as according to our Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).

Your responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Machine Operator must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily to perform this job successfully.

The Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

* Daily tasks in the process of polishing, cleaning and bulk packaging of various seeds and specialty grain.

* Operate and adjust machinery to maintain quality and quantity of product

* Troubleshoot equipment and take corrective action as needed

* Operate forklift safely in order to stage raw materials and move final products to warehouse

* Work closely with Bulk Line Utility team member to support the processing & packaging process

* Establish and maintain good documentation for internal and customer purposes

* Comply with Master Sanitation Schedules and perform daily housekeeping assignments

Essential skills and experience:

* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

* At least (1) year of milling experience or machine operator experience like that of milling, food production, etc.

* Forklift operator certification

* Able to communicate in English both written and verbally

* Strong reading comprehension, writing, and basic math skills

* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

* Knowledge of safe machinery operations, including LTT requirements

* Skill to use a personal computer and various software programs

* Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives

* Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

* Establish and maintain error free documentation

* Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, multiple times per day

* Climb ladder, step and extension

* Work in hot and cold conditions

* Work in indoor/outdoor environments

* Wear the required PPE

* Able to lift up to 60 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force

* Able to work in dusty environment and wear respiratory protection

* Able to work in noisy environment and wear ear protection

* Frequently stand, walk, rotate, bend/stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, balance and reach at shoulder level and below shoulder level

* While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, reach or feel

* Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Other considerations:

* Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team

* Must be willing and able to work occasional 12-hour shifts, weekends, Holidays, and possibly 13 consecutive days

* Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed

* Perform other duties as assigned

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
