Job Summary:

Responsible for designing, configuring, testing, commissioning, and supporting distributed telemetry networks related to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems. Ensure that the customer's needs are satisfied by monitoring system requirements from startup to implementation. Assist in the training and monitoring of employees work.


Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Collect and review information from available sources to help determine a project's functional requirements, the end customer's objectives, budgetary and environmental constraints, and the networking & telemetry scope
  • Evaluate specified and potential solutions based on the customer's objectives and Tesco's engineering standards
  • Design telemetry solutions
  • Perform assessments and evaluations for existing telemetry and network systems
  • Coordinate and perform radio feasibility studies
  • Prepare formal reports for radio studies and system assessments
  • Configure "core" equipment (Firewalls, Routers, Core & Edge network switches and radio devices) & maintain internal documentation per all implemented company standards
  • Assist with equipment deployment, on-site configuration and system troubleshooting as necessitated by department manager or senior staff
  • Provide on-site customer training
  • Mentor and train other employees on related tasks
  • Participate in formal training to maintain and expand the company knowledgebase of current and emerging technologies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or similar field of study
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Cisco certifications preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of networking principles for both TCP/IP and serial systems
  • Experience designing systems involving Vlans, STP, SNMP, SPI, RADIUS, IPSec, and SSL
  • Certification on industrial rated radio equipment
  • Experience with RF propagation modeling software
  • Strong knowledge of industrial telemetry protocols, such as Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP, and DNP3.0
  • Familiar with creating filters and analyzing statistics using Wireshark


Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of current computer technology and networking fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of HMI and PLC programming software packages from vendors such as, Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE, Schneider, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills; written and verbal


Training Requirements:

  • Tesco Controls, Inc. basic safety training
  • Elevated work surface training
  • Valid California drivers license and a clean driving record required


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, and bend
  • Daily travel in the field is required


Work Environment:

  • Production and manufacturing shop environment
  • Office environment
  • Field environment at construction sites requiring safety equipment and safety training

Pay offered will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. We may pay more or less than the range based on the person's qualifications. In good faith we believe the range is what we will pay for this role at the time of the posting and may change in the future. In addition, Tesco offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vacation, holidays, and 100% 401K match of your contributions up to 4% of your earnings.
