SUPERVISES:

There are no direct reports with this position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under close supervision, the Cashier receives cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services and records amounts received, computes or recomputes bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due using adding machine or cash register, make change, cashes checks and issues receipts or tickets to customers; records amounts received, prepares reports of transactions, reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand. The worker may give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise, operate ticket dispensing machine, and provide support to the operation; which includes setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. * Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.

2. * Responsible for accurate ring of for sale items and/or accurate barcode scan.

3. * Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

4. * Maintains proper security of cash at all times. 5. * Understands and follows cash-handling policies and procedures.

6. * May also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, emptying garbage, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area).

7. * May set up and stock the beverage area, grab and go items, service ware and condiments or other assigned areas.

8. * Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

9. * Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

10. * Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

11. * Participates in regular safety meetings, safety trainings, and hazard assessments.

12. * Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

13. * May assist in locating, reconciling, and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operating peripheral equipment that records and supports non-cash transactions.

14. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Follow instructions using structured process and procedures;

- Ability to Read and Write using English language;

- Basic Mathematical Computation skills (e.g. calculate numbers, count, correct entries, reconcile cash drawers/banks, post records);

- Basic PC (personal computer) knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g. cash register, scanners, money counters, etc.);

- Identify and work with appropriate tools/equipment;

- Flexibility of schedule changes, work duration, and task assignments;

- Availability to work mornings, days, evenings and weekends;

- Ability to work collaboratively with management, employees, customers, vendors and demonstrate good customer service;

- Ability to use situational awareness and work safely with and around electrical and mechanical equipment, sharp utensils, slick floors, hot steam and water;

- Ability to comply with safety programs and practices;

- Customer service skills that include greeting patrons in a courteous manner; provide professional responses to questions that relate to the operations of business; assist or direct customers to appropriate areas or personnel; help customers with special needs, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

* Standing and walking

* Maneuvering in and around the work site

* Bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching

* May act as Cafeteria Attendant to perform the following: lift or move boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally, Pushing or Pulling objects such as broom, mop, vacuum, dish trays, carts; Grasping both small & large objects, climbing ladders and/or step stools

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most work is performed indoors in a cafeteria setting with exposure to various background noise; which includes equipment, customers, and others working
