Position Description

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, invites applications from exceptional entry-level and lateral candidates for two tenure-track or tenured faculty positions to commence at the start of the 2024-25 academic year. Candidates should have a passion for teaching and scholarship and be well-suited to join a collegial, intellectually engaged and student-oriented faculty. The law school has many curricular needs, particularly in the fields of Evidence, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Administrative Law, Statutes and Regulations, Torts, Civil Procedure, Child and Family Law, and Legal Research and Writing. Qualified candidates may be considered to fill our newly created Eglet Chair in Evidence.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor or equivalent degree.
  • Exceptional academic record.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to legal scholarship.
  • Excellent writing and research skills.

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant practice experience.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission and core values of the law school.

  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Flexible work schedules, with an average of thirty-five (35) hours per week on campus, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Hiring Range $120,000 - $175,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
