Job Description
Job Summary:
Coordination, operation, and administration of Pacific Northwest Oil’s liquid asphalt testing , materials approval, specification and quality control.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma.
2. Ability to provide and maintain proper certifications and licensure.
3. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
4. Laboratory Experience or training

Preferred Qualifications
1. Four-year degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Business Administration.
2. Two years quality control and/or mix design experience.
3. Pertinent experience in asphalt construction, asphalt plant production, or laboratory experience in related fields.
4. Liquid Asphalt Laboratory Experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
2. Management of the laboratory personnel including hiring of new employees, training for employees as needed, setting goals and objectives for laboratory personnel, and reviewing performance of the
laboratory personnel.
3. Develop formulations for all products to maintain specification compliance and minimize the cost of goods with ongoing consultation with Purchasing and GM QC/R&D. Monitor daily results and adjust
formulations as necessary to continually meet these objectives. Communicate formulations and formulation adjustments to Operations.
4. Responsible for administration of PNO’s quality control plan through delegation of responsibilities to Laboratory Technicians, and Terminal.
5. Understanding in the use of inspection and testing devices, methods, and techniques including administration of the AASHTO (formerly AMRL) quality systems process.
6. Regularly communicate with Operations personnel to stay abreast of issues affecting the terminal operations and product quality. This should be done on at least a daily basis.
7. In conjunction with the Terminal Managers and GM QC/R&D, conduct investigative studies to determine reasons for material defects and implement corrective and remedial action. Responsible
to immediately report results outside of compliance guidelines to the proper Terminal Manager and GM QC/R&D.
8. Assist with investigative procedures having to do with customers' complaints and advise the Marketing Department on technical matters regarding such complaints.
9. Responsible for maintaining quality control records and preparing reports incidental to the procedures and functions of the department.
10. Assist with long/short and winter-fill planning with consultation with Purchasing and GM QC/R&D
11. Keep abreast of new developments relative to quality control and related procedures.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
